i'm home from maui <3 still wishing i was waking up to ocean air instead of winter, but wow - what a gift that trip was.
so here's a little happy list from the island before real life fully kicks back in -
seeing humpbacks jump out of the ocean!!
sunsets beyond the water
sunrise & sunset runs along the sidewalks
sweet taxi drivers with the best stories
freshly caught fish
windy roads down the island
beachy waves every day
riding the waves!
clear, glowy skin
more freckles!
a tan!!
palm, monkeypod, & banyan trees
the warm ocean
people-watching @the resort
fresh mangoes
cotton candy skies but in maui <3
swimming with turtles (honu!)
wild chickens roaming
gorgeous tropical flowers
small sidewalks along the water
clear blue sky + even clearer water
so many fish
many iced matchas & coffees <3
salty hair constantly
watching the light change over the ocean
stargazing near the beach w/my sisters
laughing in the pool
the thrill of the power being out for an entire day!! (everyone @the resort was going a bit crazy. it all went out when we were underwater in the pool!! completely dark!! definitley thrilling

watching surfers wait for the perfect wave
sun-warmed shoulders

seeing rain pass over the mountains
watching locals move through their normal routines
sunlight reflecting off the water
watching boats come in at dusk
longggg walks
seeing seals!! (Lani & her daughter, Kahuli)
the feeling of nowhere to rush to
standing in the ocean just floating
watching the tide move in & out
clouds hugging the mountains
flying in & looking over everything
late afternoon tiredness from being outside all day
walking straight onto the sand
waves rolling in nonstop
the sound of palm trees in the wind
tiny shells in the shoreline
coming home to a kansas chill
warmer mornings & the ability to read my Bible on the porch!

the comfort of returning to a routine
cleaning (always so so nice to have a clean house)
meal planning & cooking (made a chuck roast tonight - turned out so well. as my mom says, cooking is so forgiving & i enjoy it so so much)
watching lil janet grow up! she is getting so big & forming her own lil habits

wishing i could bottle all of maui up and bring it home 🤍
so so grateful for the ability to go!! i adored it & any chance i get, i'll definitely go back. though, the gentle beauty kansas has will always have a little place in my heart. honestly, the sunsets are unbeatable & far better than maui's!
